Midnight blogging, Orchid & Chair Art.

Orchid Art

Simply.

Doily's, Collage, Flowers.

Four parts to my new collection.

Early days art

Construction

Stitching the beads on in the garden. I added the beads to two they are glass metallic beads and I used then to highlight the shape of the crocheted stitch, fiddly but a nice finish, really worked well with the silver paint.

A chair instead of a canvas.

And why not, at local charity 50kr's (£5)

"cheap as chips" for a white canvas.

(random saying and I bet chips are not cheap any more, soon find out on my uk return)
Chips at the sea side;-0 Doily inspired, this is just the blue to white part.

Garage work shop.

My hall looks like a gallery, Alice's stripy tight match my chair.

I guess it might look quiet funny, if and when I hang this on the wall.

Different.

The ducks are getting a mention.

A magnificent bit of water-based woolly anarchy. ( I like it;-)

Tulips in my garden with a crocheted centre.

It has been glorious weather wise in Stockholm
(unforgivably back to April showers)

Always a little behind weather wise to;-)

I have been using tulips for some Uni work, natural dyeing.
Tulips and the centre stems that make a lush purple are currently top of my list to work with.

But as in most situations, knit or crochet has to get involved.

It just has to........I'm not called knitting for art for nothing!

Straight photography no fixing , just a good camera and a beautiful day.

This is probably my favourite, I have more to follow as tulips like to close up at night, so I have More in this series.

The tulip below is how all the tulips that grow wildly in my rented garden look.

But the next one down, is a one off and it took me a while to notice what was the difference, that being it has a
dark centre an the only one.

I just love the juxtaposition of the two tulips and it really stood out from the rest, genetics?

who knows! I'm no scientist.

But I know some one who is so maybe she'll answer my riddle.

Natural beauty

Striking the perfect red.

The Yellow ring.

Black/brown perfection.

Ooop's this was supposed to be at the top;-(
Very late so its in reverse. Oh well "can not win them all" as they say.

How to make a mini crochet duck

How to crochet a duck (Graffiti duck)

Just in-case you would like to add one to my Flickr duck group.
Knitted or Crochet graffiti ducks all over the world.

I used garden twine and old cotton.

These ducks are tiny, a quarter of the size of the original project.

£1 shop pack that I figured would be easier to give to my friends to take back to there country's so my map could start to fill.

Face book
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Crocheted-Plastic-Ducklings-For-River-Knit-Graffiti-Project/122294704587?ref=t

This is basic
.....

Step one, 5mm hook (what ever fits the ducks size and yarn) and then you make a chain that you join and turn into a band.

Then crochet a few rows and then time for step two.

Step two

Extend the chain, so that it will join on the other side of the neck.
Almost as if you where making a jumper thus creating the neck line.
(Yes, no arm holes;-)!)

I hope that's pretty clear with the picture.

Then step three you are filling the gap.

Decreasing and simply circling the ducks breast.

This is a side angle to show the fill in of the front gap.

Then step Five.

You pick back up the band and then fill the tail end in the same way as the breast.

Tip

I always use my starting string to attach the new yarn to stitch that tail end that way you can crochet your ends as you go.

Duck done.

Then a drop in the ocean.(literally)

As we speak, Rich is in Germany and I convinced him to take a duck;-)
(Easy)

A Geo-tagging to soon follow.

Textile Doily Orchid Art

Steps to creating this textile.

Progress so far.

Ingredients

Purple paint

Tissue paper

Doily cut into four

Flower images from a garden panflit.

White tissue paper.

Pink Glass beads.
(not sure yet!)

Four small canvas, purple paint.

A kind of collage technique,

Stick and fix.

The flowers are taken from a leaflet.
(cut and stuck)

Orchid mainly and one I don't know the type of flower.

It looked like a cactus plastic star.
(white one below)

Basic plan/set up.

Glued pink paper, pva.

Next step the to fix the doily.

That's fabric so pva is fine to use here to.

Final plan to trap doily with white tissue a paper.

Crochet experimental play

Green garden string.

Photo copy of a picture(Blythe)

Felt pen
.

Pastels
.

I'm still experimenting with ways of putting the knit and crochet print/printed on to the canvas. There is always something new to try or simply re-try.

Crocheted garden twine.

Below a rubbing on paper using pastels.

I think that it looks a little scary movie.

Below felt pens over crochet.

Crocheted Dangles

Crocheted Dangles.

This was a patio moment, I decided to vamp it up.

It is a little boring the surrounding the rusty black railings;-(

So why not Graffiti my own back yard, some thing for my personal viewing.

With some Swedish Blue Chenille.

Bright New York $1 store beads & Size 6 hook.

I threaded the beads and then crochet chained the yarn.
Repeating different patterns as I went.

Arty with my photography, my favourite below blowing in the wind;-)

I got a little bored by the fifth dangle, maybe its a project that Ill go back to.

Near Duck Disaster!

It's 'D' post.

Ducks...
Devastation....
Drottningholm....
Dog.....

All these d's make for my recent duck episode.

DROTTNINGHOLM.

Scene set Stockholm Sweden one of the many Castles...........

My Ducks

My son home from school IB revision time, aka face book
Time and hang out with my mates time.

Any how his choice 18 (I can but guide) I try to encourage some exercise.
Good for the body good for the mind.

I decide that a couple of the ducks should get released royalty style.

We live not to far from one of the many slotts (castles)
So myself, bean the dog and two ducks head off.

A WHERE'S WALLY SCENE BELOW (look closely)

First drop scene (all ok)

The Palace my new duck scene ,royal duckling.
Crocheted Brown recycled charity yarn duck.

The drop zone....
I'm quick as I guess in reality, this could be seen as vandalism and not art?.

Head line reads "dumped knitted duck!"

Mad "knit artist arrested".

My son just thinks I'm a little (out their)

I prefer arty.

Brown duck realise, all goes well.
He looked happy in his new royal surrounding.

Upon getting closer to the actual palace, my son and I decide the little jetty where the tour boat comes and goes(if your local) would be a good place.

As we could hang off the jetty to re-capture
as the orange duck is to public to leave......Drop Zone two.

Is Simply photography.

A few real ducks (cool, they set the scene perfectly)

Bad dog
Rasmus half collie half retriever, usually acts like a full collie(totally naughty) but today his retriever genes kicked in.

Imagine just what he tired to retrieve............

Picture this.......
Real Ducks in.....
Crochet duck in.....

Bean and I (Rasmus) sit with our coffees, Camera ready.

Rasmus has other ideas, he decided to launch him self... off the jetty.
(yes like a martial art movie, all in slow motion as we both grabbed for him at once.)

Luckily bean had a tight lead/leash. We both nearly had heart attacks,so fast so furious. I'm imagining my naughty dog with a royal duck clamped firmly shut in his mouth, happily swimming in the full view of the palace.

We cut the photo shoot short, a went home.

Duck defeated.

TULIPS AND CROCHET

Project up-date to follow.

Currently for my Uni work its natural dyeing and tulips I have been using, Of cousre everything turns into knitting/crochet........Naturally, so the tulips should not be any different.

Orchid Art with a little knit.

Pink splash orchid

Rasmus

Apologies, for my upside down-ness! Mess

My pictures are around the wrong way the last 1st and the 1st should be last.

(what's was I thinking........3 years of blogger and I have no idea)

TULIP'S (even in reverse its still a flowery theme) and unfortunately I'm really busy with my uni work, so its better to be quick and wrong than not at all. I would much sooner be fun blogging let me tell you;-)

Tulip head /flowers from my garden.

Orchid collage

This is my latest collage and its mixed media. A re-do two, as the lilac back ground with the black and white knit print ,that used to be in a Basque shape I actually did in 2007.

The Red is a tissue paper and pastel doily print.
The Black is bumpy tissue paper, (textured lines) that I recycled from a gift box for texture.

The ring I would love.......

When I'm good I'm very good

When I'm bad I'm better

The ring from a magazine the expensive designer type.

The ring I made a mistake with unfortunately the red tissue layer was not dried properly so the pva lifted in places making the ring dry bumpy. Ruining the piece, but that's the perfectionist in me. And really, I should know better;-(.

But I really enjoyed the impact of the over all piece and if I wasn't honest you would never know It just really annoyed me. I made such a simple mistake.
Orchids, a freebie leaflet (Orchids are huge in Sweden V popular flower)

Aka Orchidaceae
